Experimental EchoLink station...

Hi All,
K6OJ has offered to provide another Echolink station. We are currently experimenting with it. It is possible that eventually the preferred order of stations will become K6OJ-R, KR6DD-R, and N6WN-R.

There are some advantages to the K6OJ station as it is a single purpose station (the computer is not being used for other things and the radio is not being used for other things), so the facility should be more predictable than either KR6DD's or N6WN's Echolink stations.

If the K6OJ Echolink moves past the experimental stage, current plans are that it will be enabled for special events (such as the 9amtalk net) or when particular authorized parties decide to enable it.
Thus, the impact of Echolink on N6NFI would be consistent with the impact of the existing Echolink stations.

Status as of AUG 18

Progress:
Automatically disables the link 15 seconds after the computer starts up echolink on a reboot.

Capabilities:
1) selected people can turn on K6OJ-R using a web interface provided by echolink. This allows remote link enable/disable as well as the ability to drop selected users.
2) selected people can have remote access to the K6OJ computer to allow remote users to have full control of the K6OJ Echolink as well as the remote ability restart or shut down the K6OJ computer.
